Getting Meld work on Mac OS X

Meld is a very good tool for file comparison and merging activities. Here are some simple steps  that anyone can easily install Meld  on Mac OS.

  1. Install MacPorts
  2. Open your terminal  and  execute following  commands
    • Installing rarian
      • sudo port install rarian
    • Installing meld
      • sudo port install meld 
  3.  Configure the dbus service to start at boot
    • sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.freedesktop.dbus-system.plist
    • launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plistdf
  4. Add LC_ALL variable to  the .bash_profile  file at  your /home  directory
    • export LC_ALL=en_US
  5. Type meld command in the terminal and the application will be launched for you.
